Dua for Morning | Authentic Morning Adhkar & Supplications

The morning is a sacred time of renewal when a believer wakes up to a new day granted by Allah. In Islam, starting the day with morning remembrance (Adhkar al-Sabah) acts as a spiritual fortress, safeguarding a Muslim from harm, anxiety, and evil while inviting divine provision and blessing (barakah). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized beginning the day in total reliance upon Allah.

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

Transliteration

Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā, wa bika naḥyā, wa bika namūtu, wa ilaykan-nushūr.

Translation

O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening; by You we live and by You we die, and unto You is the resurrection.

Meaning and Explanation

This foundational morning supplication places the believer's entire existence—life, death, day, night, and ultimate resurrection—in Allah's hands. It affirms that every morning we wake up is an extension of life granted by Him, fostering deep gratitude and awareness of the Hereafter before engaging in daily worldly tasks.

When to Recite

The optimal time for morning adhkar begins after Fajr prayer until sunrise, though it can still be recited later in the morning if missed.

How to Recite

Recite with a calm heart, reflecting upon the meanings of each word, preferably while sitting in a state of wudu after Fajr.

Important Notes

The morning adhkar consist of several authentic supplications, including Sayyid al-Istighfar, Ayat al-Kursi, and the last three Surahs of the Qur'an. Reciting them consistently brings spiritual stability.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

Allāhumma Anta Rabbī lā ilāha illā Ant, khalaqtanī wa anā 'abduk, wa anā 'alā 'ahdika wa wa'dika mas-taṭa't, a'ūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣana't, abū'u laka bi-ni'matika 'alayya, wa abū'u bi-dhambī faghfir lī fa-innahū lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā Ant.

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Bismillāhil-ladhī lā yaḍurru ma'as-mihi shay'un fil-arḍi wa lā fis-samā'i wa Huwas-Samī'ul-'Alīm.

In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
