Duas for Specific Needs

Dua for a Specific Desire

Guidance for asking Allah for a specific lawful desire while trusting His wisdom.

Islam allows believers to ask Allah for specific lawful needs while accepting that Allah knows what is best. The Prophet Musa (AS) used these words when he was in a foreign land, alone and in need, and Allah answered him immediately.

Meaning and Explanation

This dua expresses complete dependence upon Allah. It acknowledges that the servant is 'Faqir' (impoverished/in need) and that all 'Khayr' (goodness/blessings) comes only from Allah.

When to Recite

Read it during personal dua, in Sujood, or when you feel you have a specific need but don't know how to ask for it.

How to Recite

Mention your specific lawful request in your own words, then recite this Quranic verse to show your utter reliance on Allah.

Important Notes

This is Quran 28:24. There is no requirement for a secret formula; sincerity (Ikhlas) is the key to acceptance.

Benefits

It encourages humility and trust. Instead of demanding a specific worldly outcome, it asks for Allah's goodness in whatever form He deems best.

Additional Duas

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.
