Duas for Social Relations

Dua for Community

A Quranic supplication for forgiveness, unity and goodwill among believers.

Unity and brotherhood are the foundations of a healthy Muslim community. The Quran teaches us a beautiful prayer to ask Allah for forgiveness for the entire Ummah—past and present—and to cleanse our hearts of any rancor or ill-will toward our fellow believers.

Meaning and Explanation

This dua asks Allah to forgive the current generation and those who have passed away. Crucially, it asks for the purification of the heart from 'Ghill' (hatred, envy, or malice), which is essential for community cohesion.

When to Recite

During community gatherings, after congregational prayers, in times of social friction, or during individual supplications for the Muslim world.

How to Recite

Recite it with a conscious effort to let go of personal grudges. Reflect on the brotherhood that transcends time and geography.

Important Notes

This is verse 10 of Surah Al-Hashr. It is considered one of the most comprehensive prayers for the Ummah.

Benefits

It fosters a spirit of love and solidarity. By praying for those who came before us, we connect with our history, and by asking to remove resentment, we protect our social fabric.

Additional Duas

اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا

Allahumma aslih dhata baynina

O Allah, mend the relationships between us.
