The Quran teaches believers that excellence towards parents is a priority. Part of this excellence is to pray for their well-being and mercy, acknowledging the sacrifices they made during our upbringing.
رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Rabbir-hamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera.
My Lord, have mercy upon them as they raised me when I was small.

Meaning and Explanation
The dua recognizes the care, protection, and upbringing provided by parents and asks Allah to reward them with His infinite mercy.
When to Recite
During daily supplications, after every Salah, and whenever remembering or visiting parents.
How to Recite
Recite it sincerely from the heart, reflecting on your childhood and the kindness your parents showed you.
Important Notes
This verse asks for mercy. Forgiveness is specifically asked for in Surah Ibrahim (14:41). It is a duty to pray for them whether they are alive or have passed away.
Benefits
It is an act of 'Birr' (righteousness) that earns Allah's pleasure, increases the bond of love, and serves as a form of gratitude.
