The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ frequently sought refuge in Allah from poverty, as it can lead to despair and testing of one's faith. He taught us to ask for sufficiency and dignity.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ، وَالْقِلَّةِ، وَالذِّلَّةِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ، أَوْ أُظْلَمَ
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-faqri, wal-qillati, wadh-dhillati, wa a'udhu bika min an adhlima, aw udhlama.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from poverty, from scarcity, and from humiliation; and I seek refuge in You from oppressing others or being oppressed.

Meaning and Explanation
The supplication asks Allah for protection from extreme financial lack, the feeling of not having enough, and the loss of social standing that poverty sometimes brings.

During daily prayers, specifically in the morning and evening zikr.
How to Recite
Recite sincerely while working hard and seeking lawful (Halal) means of earning.

Islam pairs spiritual effort with physical effort. One must work while praying for provision.
