A home is a sanctuary for a believer. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us specific words to say when entering and leaving to ensure the house remains under Allah's care and free from the influence of Shaytan.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Allahi rabbina tawakkalna.
In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord Allah we rely.

Meaning and Explanation
This prayer emphasizes starting every action—entering or leaving—with the name of Allah, showing total reliance on His guardianship.

Immediately upon entering the home.
How to Recite
Recite it clearly, followed by saying 'Assalamu Alaikum' to those inside, or to yourself if the house is empty.
Important Notes
Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah in the home is also a powerful Sunnah that keeps devils away for three days.

Brings Barakah (blessing) to the household and discourages Shaytan from entering or staying.
