Duas for Inner Peace

Dua for a Grateful Heart

A beautiful Quranic dua for gratitude, righteous action and thankfulness.

Gratitude (Shukr) is a central pillar of Islamic life. Allah promises in the Quran that if we are grateful, He will surely increase us in blessings. This dua was famously recited by Prophet Sulayman (AS), asking Allah to inspire him to recognize and give thanks for the immense favors bestowed upon him and his parents.

Meaning and Explanation

The word 'Awzi'ni' means to inspire, enable, or empower. The dua is a request for the spiritual strength to never overlook Allah's gifts and to translate that gratitude into actions that are pleasing to Him.

When to Recite

Recite it when you receive good news, during times of abundance, or as a daily practice after Salah to maintain a positive and grateful mindset.

How to Recite

Recite it while consciously thinking of the specific blessings in your life. Combine the words with the 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) on your tongue.

Important Notes

This is Quran 27:19. True gratitude is expressed in three ways: by the heart (acknowledgment), by the tongue (praise), and by the limbs (obedience and good deeds).

Benefits

It protects the heart from arrogance and entitlement. It fulfills the duty of being good to parents and attracts more 'Barakah' (blessings) into one's life as promised by Allah.

Additional Duas

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik

O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner.
