An authentic Prophetic supplication asking Allah to guide one's character toward moral excellence, noble manners, and kindness.

Good manners and noble character (Husn al-Akhlaq) are among the most heavily weighted deeds on the scale on the Day of Judgment. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated that he was sent for the sole purpose of perfecting noble character. In Islam, worshipping Allah is intrinsically tied to treating fellow human beings with respect, truthfulness, patience, and kindness.

Meaning and Explanation

This comprehensive authentic supplication from Sahih Muslim asks Allah for two essential forms of moral guidance: divine direction toward noble manners (kindness, honesty, patience) and divine protection against negative traits (arrogance, harshness, deceit).

When to Recite

Recite during daily prayers (such as in Istiftah or Sujud), morning and evening Adhkar, when looking in the mirror, or when working on self-improvement.

Recite with a sincere desire for self-reformation, and actively mirror your supplication through polite speech, active listening, smiling, and restraint from backbiting.
