Duas for Specific Needs

Dua for a Need

A collection of Quranic and prophetic supplications for asking Allah for help with your needs.

When a believer has a need, Islam encourages turning directly to Allah through prayer, dua, patience, and reliance upon Him. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that specific words, like those of Prophet Yunus (AS), carry great weight in seeking Allah's response.

Meaning and Explanation

This is the supplication of Prophet Yunus (AS) while inside the whale. It acknowledges the oneness of Allah, His perfection, and the servant's own shortcomings.

When to Recite

During times of distress, when seeking a specific need, or during personal supplication (Sujood).

How to Recite

Recite sincerely with a focused heart, acknowledging your dependence on Allah and avoiding treating the words as a mechanical formula.

Important Notes

This is verse 87 of Surah Al-Anbiya. While making dua, one should also perform Salatul Hajah (Prayer of Need) and maintain good expectations of Allah.

Benefits

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'No Muslim man supplicates with it for anything except that Allah responds to him.' (Tirmidhi)

Additional Duas

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir

My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.
