Ma anta biniAAmati rabbika bimajnoonin

You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman.

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ ۝ ٣

Wainna laka laajran ghayra mamnoonin

And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted.

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ ۝ ٤

Wainnaka laAAala khuluqin AAatheemin

And indeed, you are of a great moral character.

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ ۝ ٥

Fasatubsiru wayubsiroona

So you will see and they will see

بِأَيْيِكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ ۝ ٦

Biayyikumu almaftoonu

Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil].

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ ۝ ٧

Inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena

Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ ۝ ٨

Fala tutiAAi almukaththibeena

Then do not obey the deniers.

وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ ۝ ٩

They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you].

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ ۝ ١٠

And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ ۝ ١١

A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful,

عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ ۝ ١٣

AAutullin baAAda thalika zaneemin

Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender.

أَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ ۝ ١٤

An kana tha malin wabaneena

Because he is a possessor of wealth and children,

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ۝ ١٥

Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ ۝ ١٦

Sanasimuhu AAala alkhurtoomi

We will brand him upon the snout.

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ ۝ ١٧

Inna balawnahum kama balawna ashaba aljannati ith aqsamoo layasrimunnaha musbiheena

Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ ۝ ١٨

Wala yastathnoona

Without making exception.

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ ۝ ١٩

Fatafa AAalayha taifun min rabbika wahum naimoona

So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep.

فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ ۝ ٢٠

Faasbahat kaalssareemi

And it became as though reaped.

فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِينَ ۝ ٢١

Fatanadaw musbiheena

And they called one another at morning,

أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَارِمِينَ ۝ ٢٢

Ani ighdoo AAala harthikum in kuntum sarimeena

[Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit."

فَانْطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ ۝ ٢٣

Faintalaqoo wahum yatakhafatoona

So they set out, while lowering their voices,

أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِسْكِينٌ ۝ ٢٤

An la yadkhulannaha alyawma AAalaykum miskeenun

[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person."

وَغَدَوْا عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ ۝ ٢٥

Waghadaw AAala hardin qadireena

And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ ۝ ٢٦

Falamma raawha qaloo inna ladalloona

But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost;

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ۝ ٢٧

Bal nahnu mahroomoona

Rather, we have been deprived."

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ۝ ٢٨

Qala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum lawla tusabbihoona

The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?' "

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ ۝ ٢٩

Qaloo subhana rabbina inna kunna thalimeena

They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ ۝ ٣٠

Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatalawamoona

Then they approached one another, blaming each other.

قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ ۝ ٣١

Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna tagheena

They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ ۝ ٣٢

AAasa rabbuna an yubdilana khayran minha inna ila rabbina raghiboona

Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."

كَذَٰلِكَ الْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝ ٣٣

Kathalika alAAathabu walaAAathabu alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona

Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ۝ ٣٤

Inna lilmuttaqeena AAinda rabbihim jannati alnnaAAeemi

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ ۝ ٣٥

AfanajAAalu almuslimeena kaalmujrimeena

Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ۝ ٣٦

Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona

What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ ۝ ٣٧

Am lakum kitabun feehi tadrusoona

Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ ۝ ٣٨

Inna lakum feehi lama takhayyaroona

That indeed for you is whatever you choose?

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ ۝ ٣٩

Am lakum aymanun AAalayna balighatun ila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona

Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?

سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ ۝ ٤٠

Salhum ayyuhum bithalika zaAAeemun

Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ ۝ ٤١

Am lahum shurakao falyatoo bishurakaihim in kanoo sadiqeena

Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful.

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ۝ ٤٢

Yawma yukshafu AAan saqin wayudAAawna ila alssujoodi fala yastateeAAoona

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able,

خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ ۝ ٤٣

KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun waqad kanoo yudAAawna ila alssujoodi wahum salimoona

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.

فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝ ٤٤

Fatharnee waman yukaththibu bihatha alhadeethi sanastadrijuhum min haythu la yaAAlamoona

So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.

وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ ۝ ٤٥

Waomlee lahum inna kaydee mateenun

And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ ۝ ٤٦

Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona

Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ۝ ٤٧

Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona

Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ ۝ ٤٨

Faisbir lihukmi rabbika wala takun kasahibi alhooti ith nada wahuwa makthoomun

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed.

لَوْلَا أَنْ تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ ۝ ٤٩

Lawla an tadarakahu niAAmatun min rabbihi lanubitha bialAAarai wahuwa mathmoomun

If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.

فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ۝ ٥٠

Faijtabahu rabbuhu fajaAAalahu mina alssaliheena

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

وَإِنْ يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ ۝ ٥١

Wain yakadu allatheena kafaroo layuzliqoonaka biabsarihim lamma samiAAoo alththikra wayaqooloona innahu lamajnoonun

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ ۝ ٥٢

Wama huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena

But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.

Surah Al Qalam. The 68th Surah of the Quran with 52 ayah.

Surah Al Qalam ( سورة القلم ) is the 68th Surah of the Quran. It consists of 52 ayah and its categorized in Meccan .

The translation of the Qurʻan into modern languages has always been a difficult issue in Islamic theology. Because Muslims revere the Qurʻan as miraculous and inimitable (iʻjaz al-Qurʻan), they argue that the Qurʻanic text should not be isolated from its true form to another language or written form, at least not without keeping the Arabic text with it. Furthermore, an Arabic word, like a Hebrew or Aramaic word, may have a range of meanings depending on the context – a feature present in all Semitic languages, when compared to English, Latin, and Romance languages – making an accurate translation even more difficult

According to Islamic theology, the Qurʻan is a revelation very specifically in Arabic, and so it should only be recited in Quranic Arabic. Translations into other languages are necessarily the work of humans and so, according to Muslims, no longer possess the uniquely sacred character of the Arabic original. .

The task of translation of the Qurʻan is not an easy one; some native Arab speakers will confirm that some Qurʻanic passages are difficult to understand even in the original Arabic script. A part of this is the innate difficulty of any translation; in Arabic, as in other languages, a single word can have a variety of meanings. There is always an element of human judgement involved in understanding and translating a text. This factor is made more complex by the fact that the usage of words has changed a great deal between classical and modern Arabic. As a result, even Qurʻanic verses which seem perfectly clear to native Arab speakers accustomed to modern vocabulary and usage may not represent the original meaning of the verse.

The original meaning of a Qurʻanic passage will also be dependent on the historical circumstances of the prophet Muhammad's life and early community in which it originated. Investigating that context usually requires a detailed knowledge of hadith and sirah, which are themselves vast and complex texts. This introduces an additional element of uncertainty which cannot be eliminated by any linguistic rules of translation.
