[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.

تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ۝ ٤

Wanarahu qareeban

But We see it [as] near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ ۝ ٨

Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmiithin bibaneehi

They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children

وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ ۝ ١٢

نَزَّاعَةً لِلشَّوَىٰ ۝ ١٦

إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ۝ ١٩

Inna alinsana khuliqa halooAAan

Indeed, mankind was created anxious:

إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا ۝ ٢٠

Itha massahu alshsharru jazooAAan

When evil touches him, impatient,

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ۝ ٢١

Waitha massahu alkhayru manooAAan

And when good touches him, withholding [of it],

إِلَّا الْمُصَلِّينَ ۝ ٢٢

Illa almusalleena

Except the observers of prayer -

الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ ۝ ٢٣

Allatheena hum AAala salatihim daimoona

Those who are constant in their prayer

وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَعْلُومٌ ۝ ٢٤

And those within whose wealth is a known right

And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ ۝ ٢٨

Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru mamoonin

Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ ۝ ٢٩

Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona

And those who guard their private parts

إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ ۝ ٣٠

Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena

Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -

فَمَنِ ابْتَغَىٰ وَرَاءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ ۝ ٣١

Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona

But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ ۝ ٣٢

Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona

And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ ۝ ٣٣

Waallatheena hum bishahadatihim qaimoona

And those who are in their testimonies upright

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ۝ ٣٤

Waallatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona

And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:

أُولَٰئِكَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ مُكْرَمُونَ ۝ ٣٥

Olaika fee jannatin mukramoona

They will be in gardens, honored.

فَمَالِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ۝ ٣٦

Famali allatheena kafaroo qibalaka muhtiAAeena

So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],

عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ ۝ ٣٧

AAani alyameeni waAAani alshshimali AAizeena

[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ ۝ ٣٨

AyatmaAAu kullu imriin minhum an yudkhala jannata naAAeemin

Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?

كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝ ٣٩

Kalla inna khalaqnahum mimma yaAAlamoona

No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ إِنَّا لَقَادِرُونَ ۝ ٤٠

Fala oqsimu birabbi almashariqi waalmagharibi inna laqadiroona

So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able

عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ۝ ٤١

AAala an nubaddila khayran minhum wama nahnu bimasbooqeena

To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ ۝ ٤٢

Fatharhum yakhoodoo wayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee yooAAadoona

So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ ۝ ٤٣

Yawma yakhrujoona mina alajdathi siraAAan kaannahum ila nusubin yoofidoona

The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.

خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ ۝ ٤٤

KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun thalika alyawmu allathee kanoo yooAAadoona

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.

Surah Al Ma arij. The 70th Surah of the Quran with 44 ayah.

Surah Al Ma arij ( سورة المعارج ) is the 70th Surah of the Quran. It consists of 44 ayah and its categorized in Meccan .

The translation of the Qurʻan into modern languages has always been a difficult issue in Islamic theology. Because Muslims revere the Qurʻan as miraculous and inimitable (iʻjaz al-Qurʻan), they argue that the Qurʻanic text should not be isolated from its true form to another language or written form, at least not without keeping the Arabic text with it. Furthermore, an Arabic word, like a Hebrew or Aramaic word, may have a range of meanings depending on the context – a feature present in all Semitic languages, when compared to English, Latin, and Romance languages – making an accurate translation even more difficult

According to Islamic theology, the Qurʻan is a revelation very specifically in Arabic, and so it should only be recited in Quranic Arabic. Translations into other languages are necessarily the work of humans and so, according to Muslims, no longer possess the uniquely sacred character of the Arabic original. .

The task of translation of the Qurʻan is not an easy one; some native Arab speakers will confirm that some Qurʻanic passages are difficult to understand even in the original Arabic script. A part of this is the innate difficulty of any translation; in Arabic, as in other languages, a single word can have a variety of meanings. There is always an element of human judgement involved in understanding and translating a text. This factor is made more complex by the fact that the usage of words has changed a great deal between classical and modern Arabic. As a result, even Qurʻanic verses which seem perfectly clear to native Arab speakers accustomed to modern vocabulary and usage may not represent the original meaning of the verse.

The original meaning of a Qurʻanic passage will also be dependent on the historical circumstances of the prophet Muhammad's life and early community in which it originated. Investigating that context usually requires a detailed knowledge of hadith and sirah, which are themselves vast and complex texts. This introduces an additional element of uncertainty which cannot be eliminated by any linguistic rules of translation.
