بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالْفَجْرِ ۝ ١

Waalfajri

By the dawn

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ ۝ ٢

Walayalin AAashrin

And [by] ten nights

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ ۝ ٣

WaalshshafAAi waalwatri

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ۝ ٤

Waallayli itha yasri

And [by] the night when it passes,

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ ۝ ٥

Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijrin

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ۝ ٦

Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAadin

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ ۝ ٧

Irama thati alAAimadi

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ ۝ ٨

Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albiladi

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ ۝ ٩

Wathamooda allatheena jaboo alssakhra bialwadi

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ ۝ ١٠

WafirAAawna thee alawtadi

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ ۝ ١١

Allatheena taghaw fee albiladi

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ ۝ ١٢

Faaktharoo feeha alfasada

And increased therein the corruption.

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ۝ ١٣

Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawta AAathabin

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ۝ ١٤

Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi

Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ ۝ ١٥

Faamma alinsanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ ۝ ١٦

Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ ۝ ١٧

Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema

No! But you do not honor the orphan

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ ۝ ١٨

Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni

And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا ۝ ١٩

Watakuloona altturatha aklan lamman

And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ۝ ٢٠

Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman

And you love wealth with immense love.

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا ۝ ٢١

Kalla itha dukkati alardu dakkan dakkan

No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا ۝ ٢٢

Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan

And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ ۝ ٢٣

Wajeea yawmaithin bijahannama yawmaithin yatathakkaru alinsanu waanna lahu alththikra

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي ۝ ٢٤

Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ ۝ ٢٥

Fayawmaithin la yuAAaththibu AAathabahu ahadun

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ ۝ ٢٦

Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahadun

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ۝ ٢٧

Ya ayyatuha alnnafsu almutmainnatu

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً ۝ ٢٨

IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatan mardiyyatan

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي ۝ ٢٩

Faodkhulee fee AAibadee

And enter among My [righteous] servants

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي ۝ ٣٠

Waodkhulee jannatee

And enter My Paradise."

Surah Al Fajr. The 89th Surah of the Quran with 30 ayah.

Surah Al Fajr ( سورة الفجر ) is the 89th Surah of the Quran. It consists of 30 ayah and its categorized in Meccan .

The translation of the Qurʻan into modern languages has always been a difficult issue in Islamic theology. Because Muslims revere the Qurʻan as miraculous and inimitable (iʻjaz al-Qurʻan), they argue that the Qurʻanic text should not be isolated from its true form to another language or written form, at least not without keeping the Arabic text with it. Furthermore, an Arabic word, like a Hebrew or Aramaic word, may have a range of meanings depending on the context – a feature present in all Semitic languages, when compared to English, Latin, and Romance languages – making an accurate translation even more difficult

According to Islamic theology, the Qurʻan is a revelation very specifically in Arabic, and so it should only be recited in Quranic Arabic. Translations into other languages are necessarily the work of humans and so, according to Muslims, no longer possess the uniquely sacred character of the Arabic original. .

The task of translation of the Qurʻan is not an easy one; some native Arab speakers will confirm that some Qurʻanic passages are difficult to understand even in the original Arabic script. A part of this is the innate difficulty of any translation; in Arabic, as in other languages, a single word can have a variety of meanings. There is always an element of human judgement involved in understanding and translating a text. This factor is made more complex by the fact that the usage of words has changed a great deal between classical and modern Arabic. As a result, even Qurʻanic verses which seem perfectly clear to native Arab speakers accustomed to modern vocabulary and usage may not represent the original meaning of the verse.

The original meaning of a Qurʻanic passage will also be dependent on the historical circumstances of the prophet Muhammad's life and early community in which it originated. Investigating that context usually requires a detailed knowledge of hadith and sirah, which are themselves vast and complex texts. This introduces an additional element of uncertainty which cannot be eliminated by any linguistic rules of translation.
