Surah Al-Falaq for Protection

Surah Al-Falaq teaches believers to seek Allah's protection from various forms of harm and external evils.

Surah Al-Falaq is the 113th chapter of the Quran. Together with Surah An-Nas, they are known as the 'Mu'awwidhatayn' (the two seekers of refuge). The Prophet ﷺ encouraged their recitation to seek divine protection from hidden and manifest harms.

Meaning and Explanation

The surah instructs the believer to seek refuge in Allah from all created evils, the dangers of the night, practitioners of sorcery, and the destructive power of envy.

When to Recite

Recite it after every obligatory prayer, during morning and evening adhkar (3 times), and before sleeping.

How to Recite

Recite the full surah with reflection. When reciting before sleep, it is Sunnah to blow into the palms and wipe over the body.

Important Notes

The surah is a direct means of seeking Allah's help. It should be recited as an act of worship and trust in His power rather than a superstitious ritual.

Benefits

It provides spiritual protection against the evil eye, witchcraft, and the jealousy of others. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that nothing provides refuge like these two surahs.
