Duas for Morning/Evening Protection

Dua for Protection from Shaytan

Authentic supplications for seeking refuge in Allah from Shaytan and harmful whispers.

The Quran teaches believers to seek refuge in Allah whenever Shaytan whispers or when experiencing anger. Seeking refuge (Isti'adha) is a fundamental part of a Muslim's spiritual defense against external and internal evil.

Meaning and Explanation

This supplication seeks Allah's absolute protection from the influence, whispers, and harm of Shaytan, who was expelled from Allah's mercy.

When to Recite

Recite it before starting Quran recitation, when feeling angry, when having doubtful thoughts, and before entering potentially impure places.

How to Recite

Say the words sincerely, focusing on the meaning and turning your heart toward Allah's power and protection.

Important Notes

Seeking refuge is commanded in Quran 7:200 and 16:98. While Isti'adha is powerful, it should be accompanied by efforts to avoid environments and actions that Shaytan uses to lead people astray.

Benefits

It calms anger, removes intrusive thoughts (waswasa), and prepares the heart for worship. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that when a person is angry, saying these words makes the anger go away.
