Duas for the Deceased

Dua for Deceased Wife

A Quranic supplication asking Allah to forgive deceased believers and grant them mercy.

The loss of a wife is a profound trial. In Islam, a husband's duty of care and love continues even after her passing through sincere supplication. Praying for her forgiveness and high status in the Hereafter is a beautiful way to honor the years spent together.

Meaning and Explanation

This dua from Surah Al-Hashr asks Allah to grant forgiveness to all believers who passed away before us, which includes one's wife as part of the community of faith.

When to Recite

Recite it during daily prayers, while visiting her grave, or during times of voluntary dua (like the last third of the night).

How to Recite

Recite it with focus, specifically intending the reward and forgiveness for your wife. You may follow it with personal prayers in your own language.

Important Notes

This is Quran 59:10. While 'brothers' is used in the general sense for the Ummah, it applies to all deceased believers. For a specific feminine version of general Hadith prayers, one uses 'laha' (for her) instead of 'lahu' (for him).

Benefits

It is a means of seeking Allah's mercy for the deceased, which can lighten their burden in the grave and elevate their ranks in Paradise.

Additional Duas

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهَا وَارْحَمْهَا وَأَدْخِلْهَا الْجَنَّةَ

Allahummaghfir laha warhamha wa adkhilhal-jannah

O Allah, forgive her, have mercy on her, and enter her into Paradise.
