Dua for Death with Iman | Supplication for Dying as a Muslim

The ultimate success for a believer is to leave this world while firmly holding onto the Kalimah (testimony of faith). رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa tawaffana muslimin.

Translation

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].

Meaning and Explanation

The word 'afrigh' suggests a heavy pouring, like a vessel being emptied. We ask Allah to drench us in patience during the trials of life and the agony of death, ensuring our final state is one of complete submission (Islam).

When to Recite

During personal supplications, in times of fitnah (trials) where faith is tested, and regularly after daily prayers.

How to Recite

Recite it with deep sincerity and a longing for a good end (Husn al-Khatimah). Reflect on the transient nature of this life while asking for eternal safety.

This is Quran 7:126. Deeds are judged by their conclusions; therefore, asking for a death with Iman is among the most important prayers a Muslim can make.
