How to Perform Tayammum - dry ablution

Tayammum is dry ablution, allowed in situations where water is unavailable or its use is not feasible for ablution (wudu). Let's go through the steps:

1. Intention:

  • Make the intention to perform Tayammum for purification and say "Bismillah."

2. Strike the Soil:

  • Strike the soil or any clean earth with both hands once.

3. Remove Excess Dirt:

  • Blow into the palms of your hands to remove any excess dirt.

4. Wipe the Face:

  • Wipe your face with the palms of your hands once.

5. Wipe the Back of Both Hands:

  • Start by wiping the back of your right hand with the palm of your left hand. Then, wipe the back of your left hand with the palm of your right hand.

When is Tayammum Allowed:

  1. Scarcity of Water:

    • When water is scarce or unavailable.
  2. Incapability to Use Water:

    • When a person is incapable of using water, for example, due to illness or old age, and there is no one to assist.
  3. Fear of Harm:

    • When using water may cause harm, for instance, due to sickness, extreme cold, or fear of falling sick from cold water.

Nullifiers of Tayammum:

  1. Availability of Water:

    • Tayammum is nullified when water becomes available.
  2. Acts Nullifying Wudu:

    • Anything that nullifies wudu, such as passing wind, nullifies Tayammum.
  3. Acts Necessitating Ghusl:

    • Anything requiring a full bath (ghusl), like having a wet dream, nullifies Tayammum.

Important Information:

  • Tayammum is valid using any substance from the face of the earth, like dust, mud, rocks, sand, or clay.
  • It's also valid to perform Tayammum using a wall if it has dust on it or is made of earth material.
