Duas for Morning/Evening Protection

Surah Al-Ikhlas for Protection

Surah Al-Ikhlas affirms Allah's absolute oneness and is a cornerstone of daily protective remembrance.

Surah Al-Ikhlas is the 112th chapter of the Quran. It defines the core of Islamic belief: Monotheism (Tawhid). The Prophet ﷺ described it as being equal to one-third of the Quran and encouraged its recitation for spiritual protection and closeness to Allah.

Meaning and Explanation

The surah establishes pure Tawhid, declaring that Allah is uniquely One, self-sufficient, without parent or offspring, and beyond any comparison.

When to Recite

Recite it after every obligatory prayer, in the morning and evening adhkar (3 times), and before sleep.

How to Recite

Recite the full surah with a focused heart. Before sleep, it is recommended to recite it into the palms and wipe over the body.

Important Notes

While it is a means of protection, its primary purpose is to testify to the oneness of Allah. It should not be used as a charm or amulet, but as a sincere act of worship.

Benefits

Reciting it provides a shield against polytheism and spiritual harm. When read with Surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas, it forms a complete means of protection from all evil.

Additional Duas

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ

Qul a'ūdhu bi Rabbil-falaq

Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.'
