Duas for Gratitude and Praise

Dua for Thanking Allah

Use this Quranic supplication to ask Allah for help in showing gratitude for His blessings.

The Quran teaches believers to recognize Allah's favors and thank Him. Gratitude (Shukr) is a key worship that increases blessings. This specific dua was made by Prophet Sulayman (AS) to ask Allah for the strength to be truly grateful.

Meaning and Explanation

The dua asks Allah for the inner capacity ('awzi'ni') to recognize blessings, thank Him verbally, and respond with righteous actions that please Him.

When to Recite

Any time, especially when reflecting on your successes, health, family, or the blessings received by your parents.

How to Recite

Recite it thoughtfully, acknowledging that the ability to be grateful is itself a gift from Allah.

Important Notes

This is from Surah An-Naml 27:19. While 'Alhamdulillah' is the simplest form of thanks, this Quranic dua asks for the higher state of constant gratitude.

Benefits

It combines personal gratitude with kindness to parents and righteousness. Allah promises in the Quran: 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.'

Additional Duas

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabbil-'ālamīn

All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.
