Duas for the Hereafter

Dua for the Scales of Deeds

A supplication-focused guide for seeking acceptance of deeds and success at the Mizan.

The Mizan (the Scale) is the ultimate point of justice where every atom of good and evil will be weighed. Islam teaches that while we must perform good deeds, their acceptance and weight are in the hands of Allah. The best preparation for the Scale is to ask Allah to accept our actions and to engage in dhikr that is 'heavy' on the Scale.

Meaning and Explanation

This prayer, offered by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), asks Allah to accept our worship and efforts. If a deed is accepted by Allah, it gains the weight required to tip the scales in the believer's favor.

When to Recite

After performing any good deed, finishing Salah, or when making general supplications for the Hereafter.

How to Recite

Recite it with humility, hoping that your small efforts are made heavy by Allah's grace.

Important Notes

This is Quran 2:127. There is no single 'magic' formula for the Scales, but the Prophet ﷺ taught that specific words like 'Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, Subhanallahil-Azim' are light on the tongue but heavy on the Mizan.

Benefits

It prevents arrogance in one's deeds by reminding the believer that acceptance depends on Allah. It focuses the heart on sincerity (Ikhlas).

Additional Duas

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ

Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, Subhanallahil-Azim

Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, Glory be to Allah the Greatest.
