Duas for Gratitude and Praise

Dua of Gratitude in the Morning

Begin the morning by praising Allah and asking Him to help you remain grateful.

Every new morning is a blessing and a new opportunity given by Allah. Islam encourages the remembrance of Allah and gratitude for life, health, provision, and guidance as soon as we open our eyes. The most basic and profound way to start is by praising the Lord of the worlds.

Meaning and Explanation

These words express general praise and gratitude to Allah at the beginning of the day, acknowledging that every favor comes from Him as the Sustainer of all existence.

When to Recite

In the morning immediately after waking or as part of your morning Adhkar (remembrances).

How to Recite

Praise Allah with a present heart, reflect on the specific blessings of the previous night and the potential of the coming day, and make personal dua for continued guidance.

Important Notes

While this is a general Quranic praise, it is often paired with the specific waking dua: 'Alhamdulillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana' (Praise be to Allah who gave us life after He caused us to die).

Benefits

Starting with gratitude strengthens awareness of Allah (Taqwa), reduces morning anxiety, and encourages a positive, worshipful beginning to the day. It sets a spiritual tone for all subsequent actions.

Additional Duas

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a'innī 'alā dhikrika wa shukrika wa ḥusni 'ibādatik

O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
