Sha'ban is the blessed month preceding Ramadan in which deeds are raised to Allah. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to fast abundantly in Sha'ban. Muslims use this month for sincere repentance, voluntary worship, and asking Allah to allow them to reach Ramadan in good health and faith.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الأَبْرَارِ
Rabbana-ghfir lana dhunubana wa kaffir 'anna sayyiatina wa tawaffana ma'al-abrar.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Usamah ibn Zayd (RA) asked the Prophet (ﷺ) why he fasted so much in Sha'ban, and he replied: 'That is a month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are raised to the Lord of the worlds. I like for my deeds to be raised while I am fasting.' (Sunan an-Nasa'i).
The best preparation includes making up missed fasts from the previous Ramadan, increasing Quran recitation, making abundant repentance (Istighfar), and giving charity.
