Duas for Forgiveness

Dua for Mercy

A concise Quranic supplication asking Allah for forgiveness and mercy.

Allah’s mercy (Rahmah) is vast and encompasses all things. As believers, we are constantly in need of His compassion to navigate life's challenges and secure success in the Hereafter.

Meaning and Explanation

This supplication combines two central requests: forgiveness for past mistakes and mercy for the present and future.

When to Recite

Anytime, especially during personal dua, in the last third of the night, and after daily prayers.

How to Recite

Recite slowly with a humble heart, reflecting on the vastness of Allah's mercy compared to our human failings.

Important Notes

Sincere dua for mercy should be accompanied by being merciful to others, as the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Allah is not merciful to those who are not merciful to people.'

Benefits

Builds spiritual resilience, increases hope in Allah’s kindness, and follows the direct command given to the Prophet ﷺ in the Quran.

Additional Duas

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

Rabbana atina mil-ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.
