This is Quran 1:6. There is no separate authentic dua specifically prescribed under the title "direction in life".

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada
Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.
اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي
Allahumma-hdini wa saddidni
